The Shukela Training Centre (PTY) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African Sugar Association provides Engineering and Agricultural Training. Most Agricultural training takes place on-farm during farming operations, whereas engineering training takes place at the training centre which is based in Mount Edgecombe, near Durban. Engineering training is provided for all the sugar companies as well as companies like Richards Bay Coal Terminals, Eskom, Hillside Aluminium, Unilever, eThekwini Municipality and Umgeni Water.

The campus in Mount Edgecombe has on-site accommodation and board for learners, making this one of the most unique training centres in KZN.

Shukela Training Centre was established in 1974 and has a proud history.

The STC has a Level 2 BEE rating and boasts over two million hours without a disabling injury. This is achievement means that the learners are trained in a safe environment and that safety is a focus of the training. A diverse team of specialist training instructors are backed by a solid management team, providing well balanced and high quality training experience for all learners.

The STC is accredited by the AgriSETA (PAET 5135) and holds programme approval with numerous outer SETAs including the MERSETA, CHIETA EWSETA and CITA.
